  1. I can see why Scotland would want to be independent, but the drawbacks with respect to EU, NATO and other global organisations seem to great. Working in Defence , specifically V boat subs, which are based in Scotland I see a lot discussion and info from that side of things. It seems a lot of the defence aspects Alex Salmond's manifesto is based on assumption that the UK government would hand over a proportion of the defence assets to Scotland; not very likely from what i've read! NATO won't let you in due to his view on nuclear weapons, so you'd lose that as well. Financially I don't think it would be viable for Scotland to go independant. Certainly not long term, billions are spent in Scotland on defense, that's a huge revenue loss; the indirect losses from other businesses involved would be huge too. The oil and gas reserves are certainly a finite resource and another mass source of income for Scotland. That and the fact that some or the large companies and banks based in Scotland are already in the process of or considering transferring where they're based to London; more money is moving away from north of the border. It seems a wonderfully idyllic proposal, I just don't see how it would be economically sustainable. This may be a very biased Englishman's view, but it seems Alex Salmond want's to make a name for himself and get into the history books. Seeing the proposed designs for currency with his head on them just made me laugh; ego trip?
  2. Did you ask them to use a disc hose? If not i'd take it back and tell them to change it for a proper magura hose.
  3. Wrong sort of forum really, it's a bike trials forum; not motor bike trials. Someone might know, but you're more likely to get an answer from a proper motorbike trials forum
  4. Think that was more to do with when it was released and the demographic of people that mainly used it. What i meant was that, despite the technological constraints such as shitty 56k modems, functionally it was pretty damn similar. It's essentially the modern equivalent of MSN messenger. Just another IM service.
  5. Is it not exactly the same as when everyone used MSN messenger back in the day?
  6. Just put some new rubber on it Matt, think those wheels really suit it.
  7. My thoughts exactly, apart from the weight there is not a lot else going on with the frame. Spanish style BB would have been nice, would also like to see tapered steerers, especially on carbon forks. Stiffer stronger fork and a potentially stronger frame with the increased potential weld area for the downtube.

  9. Why is every bloody standard Seat Leon in my price range/age/mileage I want to look at either in Essex, Suffolk or bloody Blazingstoke?!?! Damn living in Plymouth
  10. Was a bit disappointed with how the frame looks, impressive weight; but in my opinion looks a bit dull. The forks look horrible too! The brake lever looks like a re-hashed Echo lever and looks like the clamp would cause some damage to your knees/thighs!
  11. Bar geo seems a lot better and more in line with what everyone else has. Indeeds, in this case will be espcially beneficial when you come to have to remove your freewheel from your snapped crank arm
  12. 37.5- MoD Engineer, can be more depending at what stage we are in the project.
  13. If you're snapping stuff I would say it's not because you ride light parts, but because you're as smooth as a sand paper condom. Making your bike heavier may make you more reliant on technique, but won't help you improve it. Stop trying to do everything as big as you possibly can and try to do smaller stuff as controlled, as smoothly and consistently as you can..
  14. Not really designed to wheelie, so much easier to wheelie a bike with a seat; once the front wheel is up you can sit down and it puts your weight closer to the rear axle.
  15. Unless you're Damon with thighs of steel 18:15 is more than enough. Do you need more power? Or just practice more and perfect your technique.
  16. The TryAll K2 rims I have seem to pretty damn good too. With Coust pads the brake is awesome and after riding 2-3 times week in the dirt, rain and in dusty barn/warehouse it still doesn't need a grind. Yeah! Ran one on my 24" Echo and it was brilliant, if you take your time and single wall it they're reasonably light too
  17. Why not, if it's bent already what does he have to lose? He could break a calliper which is bent and no use to him! Nick, if it does break or you can't sort it and the calliper is definitely bent i'm sure that hope can sell you a new calliper body.
  18. Always helps if its the right way up!
  19. I've noticed the same thing, been living alone for the last few months and at times i've spoken to no one all day. I've found myself feeling incredibly lonely and depressed and the thought of going out to do simple things like shopping has led me have panic attacks and not be able to leave the flat. I've had to force myself to leave the flat and it is the only thing that seems to make it any easier. Hasn't stopped me talking to myself, it's really not a nice feeling and I sympathise with you a lot. You've just got to try and get out as much as possible when you can and socialise.
  20. You have safe search enabled??!
  21. VAG 1.8T owners, how hard is it to change the cambelt etc? Are any VAG specific tools required? The beemer is getting beyond dull now, it's expensive to run and boring to drive; so it's going. Got about 2k to spend any i'm looking at either a Leon Cupra or 180Bhp Golf GTI (although they aren't the most interesting looking cars!). I've had a Cupra TDi before and loved it, so decided the 1.8T version was a good place to start, anything i should be looking out for with the engines? Common faults and tell tale signs something is wrong? Cheers for your help
  22. Well it went first time, made a little less horrible by the concrete and granite slabs being thrown and bashed about the storms the other month. The whole of that part of the hoe has changed due to those storms. 3'x6'x1' granite slabs just lifted off their concrete bases and thrown around.
