MadManMike
Anyone have experience of keeping algae / green crap away from paving slabs? It seems the more I pressure wash them, the quicker it comes back again. If you Google it, you just get loads of adverts rather than actual advice. I cleaned the whole garden about 3 months ago and now it looks like an abandoned property already... Any tips??
forteh
I think you can get a sealer to paint over them, not used it myself though🙂
J.KYDD
Does TF still have a heartbeat?! I may be posting this into the void, but I'm super stoked to be getting back on the property ladder after 18-months since flogging my last place following breaking up with the ex. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/155532743#/?channel=RES_BUY She's a proper doer-upper but I'm excided to get cracking into a project. My best mate has also bought the end-of-terrace house, so we'll be renovating together

Also, hello neighbour (almost), I live in a little village in Wales that's about 45 minutes away. Nice location for mountain biking as well, being right next door to FoD! kensmith
Huge congrats to everyone who’s completed recently—definitely feels like we’re joining the “grown-up” club now 😂 We just viewed a place this week and absolutely fell in love. It ticks all the boxes for us: decent garden, good location, and surprisingly within budget. We already messaged the owner saying we’re ready to make an offer and will be getting in touch with the estate agent first thing tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed! Since we’re first-time buyers, we’re hoping that gives us a bit of an edge. Still shopping around for the best mortgage deal—who’s everyone gone with? We’ve heard good things about Nationwide and Halifax for first-timers.

Its ex-council and had a re-wire in 2007, and has a new combi boiler too. Top priority is ripping the kitchen out straight away, so will need some wiring sorted there for moving some sockets etc. Theres an internal boxed soil-stack too which is awkward so i'll be removing that and making it external so the kitchen worktop is more useable. Yeah the main FOD off-piste trails are a 4 minute ride from the front door 😁

Yeah the main FOD off-piste trails are a 4 minute ride from the front door 😁 Nice, the boiler and re-wire saves a few quid then. Kitchen and bathroom will be the main cost then, but not too bad if you're doing all the work yourself. Very jealous that you're so close to FOD, there's nothing much where I live and I can never be bothered to put the bike in the car and drive somewhere. Hopefully the new bike will encourage me to move a bit more
Luke Rainbird
Oh shit, Josh, you've moved to the North! Ideal for getting on the trails. Looks/sounds like a solid enough base for a project. If you haven't found them yet, check out DIY-Kitchens. Used them for our place and they were brill. Cheaper than Howdens/etc and better quality, pre-built units 👍

JT!
We're closing on a house next month. After living in a mobile home for the better part of 20 years it's going to be nice living in a place that doesn't have wheels underneath. 2 bedroom single floor house with a massive basement for storage and a bike workshop. A bunch of brand new stuff in there. Kitchen is all new with all new appliances including a dishwasher. Water heater and furnace are brand new along with all new windows. Shouldn't have to worry about anything for years.

The M4 is the North/South divide.

If you're near the water like we are (moving closer to Lake Travis), I found this site useful for longer-term boat slip options: url — if anyone's done something similar, would love to hear your setup! Also, I'm sure Nationwide and Halifax would be really interested in your waterfront property in Texas. Let's keep it going! 😂 I'd love to know the success rate of these spam bots. cwtrials
Throwing up some random pictures of our house. Renovation started about three years ago and took six months to be ready to move in. The house was in rough shape so I've still got enough weekend projects to last a few years. The water damage to the floor system was bad enough that we propped up the roof and interior walls and ripped the floor system out and built a new one. It was literally collapsing first time I went in. Removed a few walls to open up the layout. Changed the bathroom layouts. Moved some closets. New windows, doors, roofing, HVAC system. All new plumbing. Updated most of the electrical. Southeast USA. Edited 18 hours ago by cwtrials
