You could actually see that in his riding, completely different use of brakes for example. Comps require high skill and part of that skill is understanding the obstacles you ride. We might mock the street riders as not having high skills on anything but simple terrain but I'm pretty sure those guys you mentioned would do much better than you think, especially someone like Rowan.
