  1. Was looking at at least 4gb ram either as standard or upgrading it myself but was unsure on processors. Bit of a pain it having to be a laptop otherwise I'd be down Bowlers for a cheap deal on a custom build, will have a scout around then! EDIT: Would something running 3gig ram standard and a core i3 be upto a bit of basic editing??
  2. Yeah simple, you want a 18t freewheel on the cranks and a 12t sprocket on the rear hub.
  3. No you won't find a booster that will fit the front to be honest I don't think. Not sure on the Echo, not heard anyone who's had one comment on it I've only heard about the Trialtech from other people.
  4. The blues are the supersoft compound are they not? Personally I never used a booster until recently but now I've ridden with one I'd highly recommend it, I run a Trialtech 2 bolt booster on my stock and the TNN booster/clamp combo on my mod and I'd recommend both highly though the TNN setup is a bit pricey!
  5. Aren't the skulls renowned for snapping halfway up the downtube or did Onza get that sorted??
  6. No it's definately a good deal, I only changed as I changed frames and the wheel I had wouldn't fit, then changed again so needed a new build and with the money I had available I went for the Trialtech. The TR rim was good and strong for me, especially for starting out again and holds a grind very well I found!
  7. I used to do the YMSA ones as well (I'm from near Buxton) and got back into it last year. Your probably best going for the Tyke Trials, they might be a bit of a trek but should be pretty easy to get to straight up the M1. Not sure about membership myself but all the info will be on www.biketrialuk.co.uk. Other than that it's worth doing a few rounds of the Nationals if your available and can get to them, they're also on the biketrial website but require no membership to ride. Hope this helps and hope to see you at a comp!
  8. Tartybikes have got a ready built Echo TR hub and rim deal for £101, I had the same build on my old bike and it's spot on for the money really. A decent hub and pretty strong rim combo but if you've got a bit more to spend I'd stick with the TR hub and get a Trialtech rim laced to one, which is what I'm currently using!
  9. Just stick with the upgrade version then, to be fair anything would be an improvement on Vista!
  10. I learnt to never listen to my mates film recommendations ever again!
  11. You can just buy the upgrade version of W7 which keeps all the files, settings, profiles, etc, stored on the pc and upgrades everything around them. Though a clean install of any operating system will always run a lot better than an upgrade but that depends on if you can be bothered backing everything up and re-installing everything from scratch! Improving on my question I suppose what I really want to know is what is going to be better for video editing in a laptop, fast processor/dual core processor?????
  12. My Acer laptop has about had it, it only starts up now and again and after a quick search on the net it could be a number of things wrong (hard drive, faulty connection, faulty ribbon, etc...) so I'm looking at getting a new one. It's mainly used for browsing the net, itunes (storing the music not listening to it) and editing vids I capture on my Kodak zx1 (in 720p) so can anyone recommend something that would be suitable for just these jobs? I don't wanna spend a lot of money as we're a bit skint at the moment with lots of things breaking at once but it has to be a laptop of some form or another as we don't have room for a full PC at home currently.
  13. How does the rear brake perform?? What setup have you got in terms of clamps, pads and grind?
  14. Not 100% sure if I'm right but I think its when you go up to front on something and then kind of roll your wheel forward to transfer to rear without using your brake.
  15. I hope it's not the lever I sold you!! I'll fill in for Matt though - hydraulics for suckers, V is the greatest!!!!
  16. Just watched, it was short but most definately worth it!
  17. That is amazing, I wish I had half the space and pallets you've got there!!
  18. Just open it up so it can empty the water out and give it a blast with thin oil/gt85/wd40. If you can be bothered that is, I know it wouldn't be high on my list of jobs I could be arsed doing!
  19. This, just thinking about my eldest son truly enjoying something or when he talks about something we did gets me. Tops my list by a mile
  20. If they're a decent quality and the right price definately!
  21. Got it Sky+'d for viewing after work tonight!
  22. Sounds good, has come in useful for me in the past when I've been looking up geo for some of the older zoo and echo frames. Would be good to see it have a refresh and hopefully get people back into adding to and editing it. Stuff like Muels how to guide for making a disc brake mount was a good idea, could do with people making step by step guides to things like custom tensioners, which tyres are worth modifying, frame mods, etc...
  23. A decent budget for a good starter bike that will last a long time, be worth upgrading and also relatively easy to sell should you change your mind would be £200-300 in my mind.
