Haha - indeed I'd meant Tom but now realise the error of my ways :P

Looking at getting my LCR wheels blasted so I can stick an OE silver on them for daily use. Have fired a message to a few local places who will hopefully come up trumps but figured if not I could potentially visit Mr Booth's booth after Curby.

Getting another new motor, dads bird wants rid of her mk4 Golf and said I can have it and give her the cash in a few months when I can afford it. It's an 02 plate, black, 4 door, 2.0 GTI and I'm pretty sure it's lowish mileage (was about 62k when they bought it a few years ago). The only jobs it needs are a new steering rack at some point and a shock, should be a bit comfier and nippier than the Yaris!

Craig may have a steering rack and suspension shiz that'd slot straight in - otherwise they're fairly cheap and plentiful second hand.

The 2.0 GTI is around 115bhp from memory? Not the pokiest (the GTI badge is a little hopeful) but as a runaround they're a good, simple little car and parts/repairs are dirt cheap and easy (Y)

TB: Do you have sandblasting facilities at all? Assuming not but never know what contacts you might have.

I do, I have a tank but it's not massive. What size wheels are they?

If they're not too bad they might not need blasting, what sorta condition are they in?

18"s so may be a smidge big by the sound of it? Not the end of the world to find someone down this way I'm sure though.

I'd like to strip them back before spray as they've currently got 2 layers of pretty crap powder that's peeling and flaking.

Will likely spray these up nice and OE silver for daily duty, sell my R32 wheels and pick up some 17" wheels for track use I think.

Edit: Have them a thick coat of stripper earlier and it didn't do a thing. Hit one of them with an electric sander which was ok for the faces but obviously wouldn't do the curves etc and the powder is a little tough to do by hand without spending forever on each one and I'm a lazy b*****d :P

Got a text this morning saying the Golf was good to roll.

An hour later this thing pulls up outside my house.

Rung up and sorted the insurance for the Golf. Considering my first quote for the 1.0 Yaris after losing all my no claims (through not being insured for so long) was £1500 which I got down to £330, this is an extra £65 including the fee.

I know it's not going to set the world on fire in terms of power but for something to nip to work and the gym in it'll be fine, probably stick a new panel filter and backbox on but I'm not going out and out to find ponies. The main thing I'm interested in is sorting the stereo and getting the speakers amped up, maybe just do a few cheap mods here and there to feed my obsession.

First job is tracking down someone local to have a play on VCDS and sort out a few extras like auto windows, miles till empty, lit needles, etc...

In other news, cut the bulkhead down on the caddy tonight, it's gonna be a car/van/camper for me, so I'd like to put the dog in the back and still see him aswell as looking out the rear windows.

Also..

Not even mobile but worrying about the lows. Priorities - shambles.

Damn you, that's the ideal vehicle I'm looking at next, will need 6 seats yasee and a converted caddy is on the radar :)

I know, well beyond my budget I'm afraid, however it's not rocket science to bolt some seats into the back of a caddy maxi, carpet/vinyl line and get some side windows cut in. My 3 door focus is a squeeze with 3 kids, with a 4th considered in the next couple of years a van based transport is going to be required :)

My mum and dad have a 2001 (I think) T4 transporter, owned from new and done about 80k I think, not sure if they're willing to let it go yet though because they use it to go camping in - my mum is 71 and does all the driving due to my dads alzheimers ( :( ) but I guess there is going to come a time in the next couple of years when they simply can't use it for that purpose.

Getting started sorting the vast amount of electrical issues with my mk4 and the first item on my list is this mystery item stuck to the corner of the windscreen, does anyone recognise it or know what it's for?

My original guess was something to do with a hands free kit due to the other small bit stuck by the interior light but a google search of what's printed on it (DVH 0870 013 12 11) brings up nothing and I don't want to rip it out and cause any more problems.

Any ideas???
