  1. Just to reaffirm it's threaded BB compatible, a threaded BB cup:
  2. I'm no font of knowledge but the general consensus i've got is that the extra grip provided by the S3's "4 wheel drive" don't outweigh the additional drive train losses and weight that comes with it.
  3. Didn't think that Plazmatic CRVs were made in red, of the 4 pairs i had they were all yellow. Great bite, good hold, but not great wear on anything but a smooth grind. The original Plazmatic backings were longer than normal pads and therefore refills from other brands wouldn't fit with out bodging.
  4. Really?! It's not the same at all is it? I know you work in a bike shop blah blah blah, but think about it. It is not going to experience anything like the same loads and forces as a rear wheel; hence why people run narrower rims, narrower tyres and different lacing patterns up front. To the Topic Starter: Radial pattern on a rear wheel is not a good idea, as far as I remember a radial laced wheel is better at handling in line forces that lateral and a 3x pattern is much better at handling lateral forces, but not quite as good at dealing with in line. Think of the side loads you put a rear wheel through when landing gaps etc. at angles, a radial built wheel just wouldn't handle it as well. It would go out of true more frequently and it would be more prone to folding. There are just to many drawbacks to the idea and I really don't think it would be worth the hassle you'd potentially encounter in the future.
  5. Grease in a freewheel is fine, I used grease when I reassembled my Echo SL/Ti hybrid freewheel (SL silver outer drive ring, Ti lockring and body); just blasted it with degreaser after and lube it up as normal. No issues at all. The rear cogs are fine, I've had one for a total of about 18 months with no issues. The Ti freewheels that I have seen fail, have all failed with the drive sprocket cracking or shattering; the only thing I can think is that because it's still steel like the SL's drive ring, it must be the gold coating they give the Ti's compared to the silver coating the SL's get. All the Ti drive rings i've seen have been corroded with heaving spotting. The corrosion could be the cause of the weakness?
  6. It's very much on the piss Jardo, as said it may be parallel with the valance but it's not square to anything else.
  7. The paint on Intense bikes is known for being pretty poor. Both the frames I had were less than perfect and were prone to chipping. Looks good though, makes me wish i still had mine!
  8. Think the tapered steerer is a good move, just need others to follow suit and someone to produce some carbon forks with a tapered steerer to match.
  9. Green scotchbrite, just gently rub them down removing the lacquer and graphics, know a few people that have done this. Won't work if the bars have a thick gel coat.
  10. Looks really tidy, love the use of an Echo BB
  11. It's a lovely looking frame. But lets be honest here the welds are never that tidy looking, irrespective of having lots of work on 4 months is too long. If it's going to take that long he can refuse the work; or be realistic on his completion dates. I can pretty much guarantee Josh@JAF would be able to make a better finished product, more accurate to design intent and from better materials in a much shorter time period. Your incessant brown nosing of Marino is a little tedious. His products are ok, but low prices and being a nice guy don't make up for less that ideal welds, inaccuracies with geometries and ridiculous lead times. It's not a way to run a business.
  12. Just saw this on Facebook, huge moves as ever. some seriously big and technical stuff.
  13. Very nice frames and sounds a very good price. I was running an Intense 6.6 for all mountain duties for a few years and it was an awesome bike. Pedal incredibly well and begs to be thrashed; sure the 5.5 will be similar. Out of the two intense bikes I've owned (Socom and 6.6) neither of them were too friendly to the bearings, some of it is down to less than perfect alignment from the factory. But they are standard sizes you can get from most internet bearing suppliers
  14. Personally with your set up i'd go for a heckler. Don't think the Blur frame would appreciate having such a long fork hanging off the front of it, would mess up the geo a fair bit.
  15. He's stating that only the Hull/Scunthorpe riders seem to be suggesting that there is something untoward about Ali C? It's got to be just coincidence surely?!
  16. JMCD you're talking about the K2 stem, the one on the bike is the 3D stem with updated graphics.
  17. The man is a legend. So much talent on a bike.
  18. Dave you're just a jammy b*****d. I used to be like you up until about 18 months ago and now, well i'm not. But yeah i can't understand how people let themselves get to the point where they can't live there life in a "normal way", it's a self induced disability. There are obviously exceptions to that statement, people with medical condition etc. But as a general rule it's caused by over eating and idleness.
  19. Definitely how it should have been done from the start, for some reason this one is filthy cheap. Guess it was sent over as a colour/ graphics sample? http://www.rocknrollbikes.com/trials/bikes-frames/frames/onza-limey-4-26-frame-ltd-edition-silver.html
  20. Ceramic bearings just aren't needed in trials, we just don't get to the speeds needed to justify any additional cost. You can get bearings with specially hardened races that are better for impacts. But really a normal bog standard bearing from someone like SKF will be more than up to the job.
  21. Not all have nylon inside, in fact the Enduro bearings that have been mentioned use marine grease as it doesn't break down and wash out as quickly as regular grease.
  22. Saw these on the dirt website a month or so ago, they're made of a plastic i think? http://dirt.mpora.com/featured/fresh-produce-eclipse-inner-tubes.html http://www.eclipse.ch/new/Tubes.html
  23. Evidently spouted so much sales and marketing bullshit that he now actually believes it!
  24. If they've changed from toothed pawls to standard type pawls, it won't be 204 engagements. Personally i'd go for a hope.
  25. It's so true that a good rider can ride pretty much any bike well. That's huge!
