Gonna throw my pics from today up. I'll pop it in spoiler as there's loads!!

Started to remove the the side panel to gain access to the control module.

I then removed the light switch panel, the wires dangling are for the lights.

First blooooooood!

This is what it looks like as standard, I then have to drop the box with the red wires going to it along with the relay box behind it to gain access to the plug where you have to fit the wiring loom into.

Control module dropped

Relays dropped!

This box of plugs is what I thought I had to connect the wire to but boy was I wrong haha, turned out its way to the left away from easy arms reach.

Finally got the correct white plug out, required sliding a metal bar to the left to release it from its holder.
10996595186_cb40110ae7_b.jpg
I then slotted the wire in the plug, initially releasing the purple pin holder to allow to fit the new pin in.

Bye bye wire!!, plug back in its holder and the wire loose.
10996587586_cb079d21a8_b.jpg
I shoved my camera right in to show the white plug where the new wire goes into, as you can see it's pretty far back!
10996705233_6b57305566_b.jpg
Started to remove the steering wheel too!
10996701153_ed538fe24a_b.jpg
Bought the correct tool too, my first "proper" tool i've bought as usually we've got it in the box. Mandatory cup of coffee in the background too haha
10996571506_47e2de696c_b.jpg
I then started to remove the cowling to gain access to the stalks to swap them over and wire in more of the loom to the connector at the back of the stalks.

Before and after, Spot the difference!
10996460575_ce6ed801ec_b.jpg
This is the connector, notice how there are plug gaps at the top then look at the next pic to see where the new ones go!

Started to put it all back together

10996589504_dfc3d52c38_b.jpg
I then had to wire in a final wire to the fusebox, I went to one that comes on with ignition as I don't want power constantly being fed to the loom.

Few more pics of me doing this!

Then finally I had to activate it on VCDS, thanks to my Dad's trusty million year old laptop haha. The battery lasts 10 mins after a full charge so I had to be quick lol

Started putting it all back together!

I also caved in and bought a black boost gauge, the silver one didn't go too well and this looks much better imo!

Yay all in, works an absolute treat, I genuinely can't believe it worked first time as I thought I would mess up the wiring somewhere. So so happy :D Sunday's drive to newcastle is going to be so chilled now

As a polar opposite...by far the least cool thing to happen to me in a long time:

post-482-0-45966400-1385202582_thumb.jpg

2 hours in hospital, 6 X-rays later...5 hours from collision to home. Not cool. Just thankful it was my work van and not my own car!

Unfortunately it was all my own doing too. Pulled out on a car at a dual-carriageway crossing, all because I couldn't see shit from the sun being so low and blinding me. Saw the car infront of this one, and the one behind, and deemed the gap safe to cross, and got a tasty T-Bone for my efforts.

Car that hit me was a Mazda 3, full of a group of 18 year old girls going to the Kiss Weekender dance party. They got picked up by one of the girls' dads, and continued to the party!

Their car however wasn't so pretty. Was shocked at just how bad it had fallen apart from a head on collision. Did it's job though, because nobody was injured (I was the only one that went to hospital).

Just awaiting what happens with regards to prosecution. Hoping I'm not too harshly dealt with. The policeman said the sun was a major contributing factor, and there was no element of speed or anything involved, so hopefully it will just be a driver awareness course...if it comes to prosecution.

Glad it only resulted in what happened. The way the girls were screaming, I honestly thought I had seriously hurt somebody. Never felt as awful as that before :(

My neck and back are pretty stiff and sore, but hopefully that will subside soon. Will be a lot more careful with the low sun now, and will be looking into prescription sunglasses so this hopefully can be avoided in the future!

Ruined my 10 year record of no accidents too :( Luckily my NCB remains though, because it was a company vehicle.

Shit man, that's nasty. Good things to take away are obviously the lack of anyone seriously hurt, and the fact the group of kids were still able to party as planned. Hopefully they still have a good weekend!

Definitely get some prescription sunglasses though. I have really sensitive eyes so I wear mine any time it's anything more than grey, and it really helps.

I know how easy it is to do that mate, almost did it on the A4 last week on my morning commute - the sun is in a really crap position on my commute at the moment!

Glad to hear you're alright though, sounds like it could have ended much worse if they were going faster.

Insurance wise it depends on the company. Some will add it on even though it wasn't on the policy. My motorbike accident had to be added my car policy as a 'claim' even though it was a different company, policy and class of vehicle. I imagine it will effect your premium regardless...

You have to declare any accident regardless of the circumstances or fault, we've established that...
