Do interview, went okay, was nervous as f**k though. Get told today I didn't get the job because I'm not ready and not enough experience. What the f**k. I've been full time here for just under 3 years. Job went to a girl who's casual here, has nothing on me experience wise. She left her last job a few weeks ago because she didn't like it anymore. Comes back and works here for a few weeks and bam, Assistant Manager. f**k this place.I wouldnt Stress about it. My missus is deputy/assistant manager at her place and she gets all the stress/bullshit but a smidge of the managers wage. Really not worth it. For the manager to say that our experience would not be accounted for for the role (which is a load of shit anyway) and then bring up my last review as my experience to justify why I didn't get the job. Bullshit. If you were going to go by my last review (2 months ago) should have just told me not to apply. The whole "lets interview everyone that applied anyway" is a f**king cover up, there's been rumours and hints that she'd be considered for the job for weeks. Interviewed everyone to make it look fair.I actually wouldn't mind the deputy manager role, this job is easy as f**k. It's retail, but not a big chain store. There's only 2 of our shops and I get paid £14.5k before tax to serve customer, hang clothes, tidy, answer phone calls, manage a few casual staff. After manager told me I'm not getting the job he said they will consider looking into something as recognition for my efforts and for running a specific part of the shop. I've been running that part for the last year, now they consider it after I didn't get the job. It's like they feel bad. I don't know what they think but me making orders of stock for this part of the shop that easily totals to over £10k every ~2 months with a profit return of about 4x from that £10k order sounds fairly important to me. Flatmate went crazy and decided everyone was against him, including me. He's been going crazy for weeks (with schizophrenia). I tried real hard to keep it together and remain friends with him knowing that he was suffering from mental health issues and that I was possibly his only friend left but at this point he is only able to see me as an enemy, and things were getting out of control. Been trying to work on CMS (trying to upgrade, have to make a local copy on WAMP because obviously the online upgrade just f**ked everything up once I got a dev copy of the website running) and I'm astouded by the number of problems that occur. It seems that on EVERY SINGLE STEP there is an error of some sort. It makes me wonder if all this Apache nonsense isn't deliberately designed in such a way that programmers have a job. If we can send a probe outside of our solar system or make a modern mobile phone, we should be able to create software which isn't riddled with errors throughout and a nightmare to work on for anyone other than experienced users.Out of the initial manual upgrade manual which is about 20 steps long, there have been issues on every single step which would take about an hour each for me to overcome. Hit a brick wall towards the end and having to start over again (this time on my PC) and already there are issues which were not present on the laptop even though both OS's are the same and the local server is too. Update on a copy of the website on the server failed, so trying to do it locally. That worked a few days ago when performing a manual upgrade, but I couldn't get the website to run locally although the db and files were updated. I uploaded that to my VPS to see whether it would work but since WAMP uses a much newer MySQL version, the db import didn't work. I'm now trying to get a local copy of the initial website working to determine whether it's safe to upgrade MySQL from 5.1.x to 5.6.x on the VPS. Once that's done, I can proceed to upload the updated CMS and work on it until it's ready to go online. Unless the person is violent or has committed/intends to commit a crime they can't really to anything apart from keeping them in the cells overnight and trying to get a doctor out to them. Problem is that a lot of these specialists/social workers don't work 24/7 which means nothing really get done.You can only do so much to help your friend, especially if he doesn't want it.
